There is no denying that fire pits have become very popular in recent times. Always make the fire pit on a level surface and ensure that there are no slopes or uneven grounds. This lowers the risk of fire moving out beyond the fire pit. Do not use smooth stones from riverbeds as they are not the best choice to make fire pits as they have absorbed moisture over time and can explode. Go for the dry and rough stones to line your fire pit. One can go for both portable and permanent fire based on their needs and budget.

When using a fire pit

Always stand or sit at a safe distance and avoid using gasoline or kerosene, as those can easily get out of control and cause a fire. Use wood which is the best for kindling and it doesn’t extend beyond the edge of the pit. Monitor guests and especially the little children around fire pits. See that there is no risky behavior and keep a close eye on the kids and the pets. Do not leave the fire unattended as it can spread quickly. Once your party around the fire pit is over, make sure to extinguish the fire completely with water.

It is a good idea to check the weather export and one should avoid using their fire pit on windy and stormy days, as flames or embers can reach the nearby areas, trees and even your home.   Keep a fire extinguisher nearby in the area and douse the fire in case it gets out of control.
